We're thrilled to kick off the 4th year of the YESS Post-Secondary Success program serving more students than ever!
Thus far, we are working with over 130 high school Seniors from Adams City, North, West Leadership and Westminster High Schools in the Denver metro area. Hopefully we'll add a few more Seniors when programming at Lincoln gets started.
#yesscollegebound #yesssuperstars #thefutureisSObright
We are also supporting almost 170 YESS High School graduates from the Classes of 2017, 2018 and 2019. What a difference a few years makes!
YESS Alumni are making the world a better place through their preparation for work as Certified Nurses Assistants, educators, mental health professionals, musicians, lawyers, Emergency Medical Technicians, computer scientists, nurses and more.
Check out the YESS Post-Secondary Success video for a glimpse at what we do!

____

account. You can change the settings in your student portal for your school

verification and will need to request tax transcripts from the IRS. Let me know
if you need more info!

Second Semester Senior!!!!
Hey Seniors, Congrats on making it through the FIRST semester of your Senior Year.
ONE MORE TO GO!
Here are some thoughts on making the most of your next few months of high school....
- Slow down! Take time to appreciate the people around you even the challenging ones! Think of all of the lessons you've learned and how you've changed over the last 4 years.
- Stay FOCUSED! It's easy to get sidetracked. You are almost across that finish line...BUT YOU STILL HAVE TO FINISH. Your grades and attendance still matter.
- Dream BIG! Imagine your dream future. Where will you live, what will you do and, most importantly, who will you choose to spend your time with especially your free time. Some people think we are the average of the 5 people we spend the most time with...Who are you?
- Apply for ALL the scholarships. Come on, you knew I was going to say that!!! :)
- Use a checklist like this one so you stay on top of your college admissions and financial aid requirements. Check that college email!!!!
Please let me know if you have any questions as you continue on your Road to Success!
Have fun out there!

Things I Wish I'd Known Before Going to College....
You'll only have ONE first day of college. And for some of you, that day is almost here!
Congratulations!!! And get ready for a wild ride!
You'll have tons of questions and will probably want to figure out all the answers on your own. After all, you're in college----You're independent now, right?!
But we all need help! And we all have questions we need someone else to answer. Don't be afraid to ask!
For example, when I was choosing classes for my first semester in college, I had NO IDEA what R stood for next to some of the class titles. I agonized over it. I spent so much time trying to figure it out on my own. I got more and more nervous. No one at home knew what it meant. I was so nervous that since I couldn't figure that out, it meant I'd fail EVERYTHING! (Remember the "Hot Buttons"? I thought I wasn't good enough, I felt stupid, I was sure I would fail!) Finally, I called my college and asked. It turns out it stood for Thursday! Those classes met on Thursday!
That was not the last question I asked as I learned how to navigate college......
(I had questions about what classes I was supposed to take, how to access a scholarship for books, where to get the best food on campus, how to meet new people, what to major in, how to get a job while also going to school to name just a few!)
